Two hearts have wed

My dear friend Catherine braved the perils of Illustrator to create this gorgeous wedding celebration invitation. Not a designer by trade, we talked about some details together, but she mastered it entirely on her own. Commissioning the sacred heart artwork from Corrina Orrico, they reworked it a couple times, and I love how the sacred heart has a design within it. On it's reverse, the enlarged design in the top corner creates a sense of drama while the lettering keeps it stately and composed. The two hearts in the corner are sweet but not overly so. There's a feel of the handmade but also of high elegance. Catherine used a cheerful font for their names which I adore, Tagettes, and which Catherine says reminds her of a sixteenth century Spanish script.

Dedicated to the one I love*

From my e-Flux mailer for the NY Art Book Fair. E-Flux is what separates me from being completely uninformed about all things art related around the world. *This one goes out to the love of my life, Devrim, for taking a chance on a girl with funny red shoes who lived north of 8 mile in some artist commune, or something.
